Ingenion was founded in 1984 by Peter Dyke, Andy Wieczorek, and John Williams to apply ingenuity to electronic product design.

The company’s first small office premises were in the St Neots area where the directors concentrated on contract design.  Initially, design centred around measurement and instrumentation, industrial control and telecommunications for companies such as Pace Ltd.  As the company’s customer base grew, larger premises were required and Ingenion moved to Brunel House in Huntingdon.  The two-storey office block enabled space for design to spill over into manufacturing of products designed in-house and hence Ingenion shifted into sub-contract design and manufacture.  The company grew steadily and it became clear that to improve the companies profile on competitive prices and efficiency another move would be required.   Ingenion moved to the current premises in Kimbolton in 1997.  The larger premises allowed the purchasing of specialist manufacturing equipment, which has enabled new clients to be taken on with reduced labour costs.  Today, at least two thirds of the company’s turnover comes from sub-contract manufacture of products designed in house or taken purely as manufacturing.
